The Abilities Centre

HRCx provided mechanical, electrical, and commissioning consulting for the Abilities Centre, which is located in Whitby, Ontario. The 122,000 ft² project is a multi-use recreational facility that includes a field house complete with basketball courts, oval track, change rooms, fitness room, office space and other minor ancillary spaces.

Place des Arts

Place des Arts located in Sudbury, Ontario will be Northern Ontario’s first multi-disciplinary arts and culture centre. The 60,000 ft² centre will be home to eight different cultural organizations. The building will include a 299 seat theatre, a 150 seat gallery, which will house the Galerie du Nouvel-Ontairo, three costume and prop workshops, a youth studio and three artist studios for in residence artist. In addition to the creative space will include a bistro, two meeting rooms, and space for administrative offices. The design of the building is the result of a joint venture between Sudbury architecture firm Yallowega Belanger Salach and Toronto based Moriyama & Teshima.

HRCx is provide commissioning for the art centre.

King Edward Arts Hub and Incubator

HRCx provided measurement and verification services for the adaptive reuse of a 1912 heritage building, plus two new art pavilions.  The facility offers mixed-use creative spaces for professional arts, social innovation and community development; including, production and rehearsal spaces; workshops; meeting rooms; innovation space; business services; spaces for public art; collaboration technology; and areas for interaction and community gatherings.  The overall size of the development is approximately 50,000 ft².  The project is targeting LEED Gold, with energy targets approximately 60% better than model energy code, while maintaining the existing envelope.

Seton Recreation Centre

The new Seton Recreation facility will be located at 19340 45 Ave.S.E. in Calgary , Alberta. The total gross building area (GBA) is anticipated to be approximately 30,658 m² (330,000 ft²) and consists of a water park, competition lane pool, diving, two multi-purpose ice rinks, gymnasiums, a fitness centre, a theatre, dedicated art space and a full-service public library.

LEED® NC 2009 Fundamental (EAp1) and Enhanced (EAc3) commissioning of this facility is provided as a joint venture between HRCx and Mission Green Buildings.

The facility is to meet or exceed LEED® NC 2009 Gold certification.

Commissioned systems as required by LEED® include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic hot water systems, and lighting controls including day-lighting as well as building automation controls.

Specialty systems include ice rink and pool area dehumidification units.

Ministry of Natural Resources - North Bay New Fire Management Facilities

HRCx is providing commissioning services for the construction of a new Fire Management facility in North Bay, Ontario. The 12,370 ft2 facility, designed for post-disaster requirements, will operate as a 24-hour facility and is targeting a LEED silver certification.

Ministry of Natural Resources - Haliburton New Fire Management Facilities

HRCx provided commissioning services for the construction of a new Fire Management facility in Haliburton, Ontario. The 19,000 ft2 facility, designed for post-disaster requirements, will operate as a 24-hour facility and is targeting a LEED silver certification.
